The book of Psalms traces out a journey from lamentation to praise. The earlier psalms are more often songs of sorrow, and frustration, but – increasingly – more and more are songs of confidence, praise, and thanksgiving, until the book climaxes in five final songs of unbridled rejoicing in the LORD. This mirrors our walk with Christ, moving from sorrow, increasingly, into praise.
Psalm 146 marks the beginning of this climax with a personal prayer, a personal decision to Praise Him. And from this beginning we see that,
- Right Praise begins with a Decision
- Right Praise depends on Right Trust
- Right Praise requires Right Relationship
- Right Praise needs Royal Help
