Everything will Praise Him

The book of Psalms moves from lamentation to praise, culminating in five songs all of which begin and end with the call to “Praise the LORD”. These final five progress from an individual decision to praise the LORD, to the final psalm which demands that, “everything that has breath praise the LORD” (Ps. 150:6), because this is, ultimately the meaning the purpose of all life – to praise the LORD.

Psalm 150 consists largely of that same call to praise him repeated over and over again. But the call evolves, focusing on where, why, and how we should do it. And in so doing it makes clear that the life with meaning, the life that fulfils its purpose and potential …
