The many forms of dementia are a rapidly increasing illness and carers face many problems, including a feeling of isolation due to the difficulty of taking their loved ones into public places such as cafes. The Friendship Hour is a joint effort between Carryduff Baptist and Carryduff Presbyterian to provide an opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to come and relax for an informal hour, in a safe environment, chatting with others in a similar situation. It happens on the second Saturday of each month beginning at 4:30pm in the buildings of the Presbyterian Church. Plans to resume this ministry (post covid) are yet to be finalised.
A light tea is provided and all dementia sufferers must be accompanied by a carer.
