Everyone is welcome to join us for our services – some people will dress more formally for church, but many come casually … we’re pretty relaxed about that. Children are welcome and, if you need it, we have a crèche where you can take your children and still see the service and listen over the speakers.
We meet to sing hymns and songs to God: some old and some new, but all expressing our joy, our hopes, and our trust in Jesus Christ. We also pray, usually the pastor or one of the elders will pray but occasionally we throw it open to whoever wants, to lead us in prayer. And, at the heart of the service, we open the Bible – God’s word – and listen to a sermon explaining what the Bible has to say and what it means for us today: it usually last about half an hour.
On Sunday mornings we also eat a simple meal together – just a piece of bread and a small drink – which is something Jesus commanded us to do when we gather to worship. Everyone who is a Christian takes the bread and the cup and through them we are reminded that Jesus’ body, was broken and given to us, and that Jesus’ blood, like the cup, was poured out so that we might be saved from our sins.
Altogether our morning service usually lasts about an hour and a half.
